About Kalinchowk
Kalinchok is a high-altitude rural municipality in the Dolakha district of Nepal, situated at an elevation of 3,842 meters. It is a premier destination for pilgrims and adventure seekers, famous for its sacred hilltop temple and reliable winter snowfall.
Located within the Gaurishankar Conservation Area, Kalinchok offers a "bite-sized" Himalayan adventure only 150 km from Kathmandu. The region centers around the sacred Kalinchok Bhagwati Temple, a powerful Shakti Peeth dedicated to the goddess Bhagwati, which provides a 360-degree panoramic view of the Gauri Shankar, Langtang, and even the Everest range. At the base of the hill lies Kuri Village, a picturesque settlement of colorful stone and wood houses that serves as a hub for local hospitality. While traditionally a trekking destination, the Kalinchok Cable Car has made the summit accessible to all. During winter, the landscape transforms into a snowy wonderland, making it one of the few accessible spots in Nepal for skiing and snowboarding.
